Spent my childhood in the heart of a communist country. Grew up in the arms of an economic miracle. Too old to be unafraid, too young to be bound by fears.
“What would you like to do after graduation?“
Back in uni, when asked this question, I always described my ideal job as something that would allow me to use my knowledge and skills to create positive impacts.
With that vague idea, I entered the working world, carrying with me a bag of confusion. Spent 2 years trying out extremely different things (corporate job: tick, startup: tick, writing: tick, producing music: tick, photographer: tick).
A career in products
In the process, I discovered the concept of a career in products. By products, I mean goods and services that are paid for and used by people. Some products are physical: electronic devices, food & beverages, cosmetics, etc. Some are non-physical, e.g. tuition, match-making, ride-hailing service, etc. These products can be discovered, purchased, and consumed in brick-and-mortar stores or via mobile applications and websites.
And I love it. I got a taste of building products in a corporate environment as a product manager as well as in a startup as a founding member. I’ve realized the pleasure of creating something that people love to use is the best feeling in the world.
At low points, it can be shit. At high points, it is the shit.
At low points, there are many obstacles, doubts, and much disappointment. But at high points, there is a sense of meaning, accomplishment, and pride.
I start this site to share my journey with you, young graduates who are exploring career paths, professionals who are considering a career switch, and seasoned product people who would like to share their experience.
I would like to give you an authentic view on the life of product managers and startup founders. We can have a good laugh, talk about tough issues, and hopefully, become friends in the process.
